The Maxwell House Coffee empire was founded by Nashville grocer Mr Cheek who married Miss Wood and together built a 55 acre estate called Cheekwood. The estate is now a botanical garden in a very exclusive country club area just outside of Nashville. The formal gardens are spectacular. Many thousands of pieces of Chihuly glass were combined with the plantings and then illuminated for a spectacular night time extravaganza of art and flowers. As a respite from the 90 plus degrees of the gardens, the mansion houses an art gallery in a cool 78 degree environment. It actually felt cold viewing the traveling art exhibition of "American Impressionists in the garden."

Woman and Art. It's all the same to me. |
Viewing the many forms and shapes of Chilhuly glass in the garden made me feel this is as natural as can be and every garden should have glass art forms in it.

It started thundering and you could see lightening in the distance. A light sprinkle added nice texture to the surface of the pond with this old rowboat of Chilhuly glass.

Rain sprinkles put interesting splashes on the surface of the pond. |
