A Day in Santa Fe

Santa Fe banner

We enjoyed the day wandering around Santa Fe until we were exhausted. We started with a wonderful breakfast on the Plaza. We met an interesting couple from New Haven, CT during breakfast. He's a lawyer and they vacation in Santa Fe quite regularly. I told them about my cross country journey visiting Art musuems, Galleries, Music and National Parks across the US. They were going to tour the National Parks of the Southwest before returning to Santa Fe/Albuquerque in 2 weeks to fly home. They stated they were jealous of my journey and that's something they have always wanted to do. In my case, the trip just appeared before me while Googling and using Google Maps to map out a plan.  Despite having flown back and forth across the country numerous times, I have never really seen the country, but I digress (or repeat).

After the Neda Metteucci galleries in the morning we wandered over to the Shed on the Plaza for lunch. today is Libbie's birthday. While waiting for a table, we listened to this lady playing her guitar in the outdoor bar area. As a birthday present, I bought one of her relaxing CD's for Libbie.
The Shed on the Plaza
The Shed is a picturesque locale. Once seated inside there is no question you are in New Mexico. The wall coloring, art and general atmosphere all say New Mexico or specifically Santa Fe.

It's a tough choice to decide on which aspect of the decor we like. Is it the Chili's, the Orchids or the wall colors?

A healthy veggie burger with bean salad and tortilla chips hits the spot.

Naturally Santa Fe is a town where artistic jewelry reigns. Specifically, Native American Jewelry is sold by Native Americans on the Plaza at the Palace of the Governors. Only Native Americans are allowed to be vendors here. In a time honored tradition the hand crafted jewelry is sold on blankets spread across the sidewalks under the overhead portico of the building. Traditionally, much  of the jewelry is silver and turquoise.

At the conclusion of a nice day in Santa Fe it was time to get back to dress for the Opera tonight. We slowly made the trek back to Romero St for a little respite before going out.
Romero St, a cute less than one lane street. This is a great street for us anti-SUV people
On to the Opera.
