Piz Gloria

Piz Gloria is the name of the revolving restaurant on the top of Schilthorn.  It served as Spectre headquarters in the 1999 James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".  The observation deck of Piz Gloria affords 360 degree views of the surrounding Alps.  We can see all the way to Italy and France from up here.  The views are one of the best in the Alps.  On the day we were here there was a large group of Chinese tourists taking pictures of each other.  We had to succumb to the process and had a picture taken with us.

Posing at Piz Gloria

As I mentioned before, the views up here are the best in all of Europe, provided it's a clear day.  Clouds drifted on and off the mountaintop making it even more dramatic.  What a beautiful morning!

It was pretty cold out here on top of Schilthorn.  We went into the revolving restaurant and ordered Apple Strudel and Coffee while we watched the world go by from our window side table on top of the world.

James Bond 007 Museum

Since the Piz Gloria owes it's completion from the funding of movie company that filmed the 1999 film "On Her Majestys Secret Service" it's fitting that a 007 museum is a popular part of the restaurant.  A futuristic chrome escalator leads down to the lower level where movie posters line the entrance hall to the museum.  They include most of the posters from the James Bond series of films.
